If Palin's daughter had decided to have an abortion, would she have still thrust her into the limelight?

I first thought the Palin decision by McCain was foolish and literally political suicide. I was wrong. Obama and his camp should be worried at the very least.

The RNC made a terrific strategic move.

I think it's funny that Palin proposes "abstinence only" teaching when clearly it didn't work for her daughter LOL!

And hey, if she wants to advocate thousands of too-young girls being ignorant and ruining their lives (and often that of a baby since many kids aren't mature enough for being a parent!) instead of teaching ways to prevent pregnancy in the first place, that's her right. A very, very stupid one.

The hypocrisy of the Republican right has no limit.  Palin wants everyone to respect her daughter freedom of choice to keep her baby, but she wants to take freedom of choice away from other women.

These things only happen in religious families. A reasoning person who is taught to deal with her emotions and has a goal of independence for herself in life will use birth control and be willing to have an abortion as a last resort in order to continue on her path to her dreams and joy.

And it's not just the fundies. I personally know girls who are horrible criminals, gang members, shoplifters, drug abusers, alcoholics, smokers but who draw the line at having an abortion! They'd rather give up their dreams in life, depend on some guy too drunken to wear a condom, themselves no brighter of course, and have the kid, just because they think that will get them sent to h**l more than the other things they do every day. Now that's sick!

If she'd been offered the VP, she still would have taken it, and figured out a way to spin it.  She shows a strong thirst for power.  Probably would have worked on the "sinner needs forgiveness" angle, which the religious right brings out when one of their own is in trouble.  (They use it much less when the "sinner" is on the left...)  Would claim her first hand experience made her a stronger voice in fighting abortion.
