Because if she doesn't then the question will be - Is she ashamed of her daughter.  You can't win for losing with the media.

her daughter is part of her family.  have you seen a politician not bring out all of their immediate family?  if doesn't bring her out she'll criticized for trying to hide her daughter by the media.  you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.
