If Palin is such a "joke," as the left calls her, why is she the talk of this board instead of Obama's speech?

I tell you, all I heard immediately following the Democratic National Convention was how Obama hit it out of the park, his speech was brilliant and you could feel the electricity.

Now, two days later, instead of analyzing the speech and bringing up points about it, all the Democrats will talk about is what a joke and a non-issue VP candidate Sarah Palin is. If she's such a little blip in their existence, why do they talk about her so much?

It's all about timing.  The best thing the McCain campaign has done to date was to knock Barack off the news cycle by announcing his VP pick 12 hours later.  Unfortunately, this was coupled with the worst thing the campaign has done to date, which was picking someone who now makes it darn near impossible for them to credibly attack Obama's lack of experience.

The reason people talk about her so much is that there's a lot to talk about.  She's an insulting pick to any woman with a brain in her head, as she opposes abortion in ALL cases, including instances of rape, incest, and a threat to the health of the mother.  She's grossly underqualified to make decisions of national security.  She is in the pocket of the big oil companies.  She refuses to accept any human conrtribution to global climate change (even the Bush administration does that, nowadays).  She advocates the teaching of Creationism in public classrooms.  And if elected, she would be the immediate successor to a 72 year-old man with a history of cancer.

I've seen a lot of republicans asking similar questions but few liberals saying anything about her except in response to these questions. You only wish that liberals were that upset.

Because, as a Republican voting for Obama, I am stunned and appalled at the cynicism of the choice.  McSame's pollsters must have told him he was on a sinking ship.

Why do I feel like I do?  True Republicans stand for:

-fiscal conservatism (balanced budgets, no deficit, funding what is spent, e.g. Iraq), and

-personal liberty

Palin seems to have been chosen to try to woo Hillary's supporters.  Do you think Hill's supporters will not read Palin's positions: anti-woman, God, Guns and g**s?  Plus, those positions place her on a collision course with true Republicans.  She will oppose personal liberty and, if she supports the Bush tax cut giveaways, oppose fiscal restraint.

Add that together and you have cynical sell-out.  And that is why the boards are buzzing.

Obama's speech was very straight forward and well laid out.  There were no quesitons or comments necessary.

Palin on the other hand is an unknown.  There are many questions to be asked about her including the fact that she is being investigated for abuse of power.

Palin is being talked about on this board and others because to the Obama campaign she is the gift that will keep on giving all the way up to the election.

     Because McCain is along with Palin is using a little baby with down Syndrome for political gain!!!!     A sick attempt to keep control of the executive branch.    Also to push in favor of eliminating abortion using this little baby.    No one is asking who is taking care of this child while his mother is out campaigning!!    

     Also a joke because the right wing rather spend there money on war efforts than domestic policies.   That includes education for disabled children.

     I have 4 children one with severe autism.   I am constantly harassed for having my two year old daughter yet this woman Palin is praised!!!

What should we say about Obama's speech?  It was the most watched event of the year... more than the Super Bowl or the Oscars or American Idol finale.  40 million people.  It was a HUGE success.  I think that's what pushed McCain over the edge.

McCain could have picked someone who would have brought some honor to the Vice Presidency, instead he blew it by pulling a cheap politically cynical stunt, which is so transparent nobody is going to be fooled by it. It's all the talk right now because it is so outrageously stupid that after the Republicans realize what a foolish mistake McCain made it will be too late -- Obama will be the newly elected President!

Can you say fear? GOVERNOR Palin has 2 Years more experience than Obama. Her experience as a Governor certainly tops Obamas mere 147 days as a Senator.At least her experience is in running a State vs Obama's experience running with a known terrorist and a radical preacher.

McCain,being the fighter he is, gave the DNC the old one, two punch.

1st he Congratulates Obama for securing the Dem nomination. Then before they can figure out how to counter that he sends in the 2nd punch. He announces Gov. Palin as his VP pick. Now he's really got the DNC in full terror mode. They don't know which way to turn now.

McCain chose a VP who epitomizes his major criticism of Obama.  It's irony.  Obama's speech was good and his VP selection was superb. Biden has years of relevant experience. He would be able to step in as President with no problem what so ever. If McCain should croak in office, Palin would have to take over. She's about as ready to govern the US as the average soccer mom.  It's ridiculous. She is a joke.
