Frontal Offset crash tests test vehicles going into a barrier at 40mph. but if you have two ordinary cars driving on an ordinary road, you know each car is going like 40mph when it hits offset, thats a closing impact of 80mph. So how the h**l can you measure vehicle safety when you are only measuring a scenario of two cars each going roughly 20-25 mph into eachother offset?

  1. they do this for the same reason you have to buy 12 eggs when you only wanted 8 .

  2. because nobody can afford a vehicle that'll survive an 80mph crash.

and because how many crashes are head-on?  especially at hi-way speeds?
