If Rafael Nadal wins Roland Garros this year, will he be the #1? I'm not sure if he'll defend his points, or gain points.

  1. No he won't gain points, because he won the french last year he'll have to defend 1000 points, he mostly stands to lose points depending on if he loses in certain rounds of the tournament. But the only chance he'd get to become number one is after Wimbeldon because Federer has to defend his points at Wimbeldon this year, so Fed has to lose at Wimbeldon, I think for Rafa to become number one.

  2. i wish, think he`d have to win wimby aswell

  3. He will be the true number one in the hearts and minds of the tennis fans.  Roger seems to have hit a major speed bump.  Only time will tell if he can get over it.

  4. no, he has to win it so he doesn't lose any points, cause he won ti last year.-

i really hope he wins, couse if he doesn't that means more chances for djoko to take number 2 spot !!!

  5. No, he will only be defending points from winning the title last year.  Mathematically he can't become #1 until after Wimbledon, and that's only if he wins that title, along with Queen's Club just prior, AND if Federer loses early at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon.

  6. he will just defend his points... if he lose in early rounds, he will lose some points...

the chance of nadal being #1 is fed losing in early rounds in RG and Wimbledon.. or Nadal winning Wimbledon, London Queen's Club and win some masters series after wimbledon...

  7. If he wins Roland Garros, he'll get 0 points. If he loses (oh dear I hope not), he'll lose a minimum of 300 points.

Fed needs to reach atleast finals to keep himself from losing points. If he loses say in the first round he'll loose 700 points. However, I think the difference netween him and rafa is over 1000 points, so there's no way raf can take that #1 ranking during frenchy.

  8. nah I finally somewhat understand the point system and it's going to happen. Roger has a crazy lead and there's no way he's going to be loosing in the 1st or 2nd round. Although I would love to see that, what are the odds

  9. no, he can't gain points but has to defend his 1000 points of the last year.

he will not be #1, not even if Fed loses in the 1st round.
