....who do you think would win? And if you could pick one of these two fillies for your broodmare band, which one would you pick? (For those who don't know, Peeping Fawn, who just won the Gr I Yorkshire Oaks, her 4th Grade I race, is out of a half-sister to the dam of Rags to Riches, this year's Belmont winner.)

  1. I just checked out Peeping Fawn's pedigree and it is pretty impressive with Northern Dancer on both the sire and distaff lines. But Rags' pedigree is like a who's who of American Thoroughbred racing with Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Deputy Minister, and Blushing Groom. I'd lean toward Rags' pedigree with more out crossing. I am biased, of course, but I would put my money on Rags and would choose her as a broodmare over her cousin.

  2. peeping fawn ran a great race in the yorkshire oaks and would definetly win

  3. Peeping Fawn is a good runner, but I'm going to have to vote in Rags to Riches's favor. For a brood mare, I would still have to pick Rags to Riches. She is a beautiful horse with a pretty big race tucked under her belt--girth, rather.

  4. I think Rags to Riches would win. Rags to Riches is an awesome horse with amazing ability (not saying that Peeping Fawn doesn't). Although Peeping Fawn has Danzig as a grandsire, Rags to Riches still has A.P. Indy as a sire. Rags to Riches bloodline and her on the track performance could make her a top broodmare!
