Question:

If Rapeseed Is Toxic, Why Do People Consume Canola Oil?

I've been doing some research on canola oil, only to find out that it's made from genetically modified rapeseed. I found out that canola oil is registered with the EPA as an insecticide, and that conola oil is "...deemed undesirable for human consumption" by the FDA.

Here's a site talking about the dangers of it:

With all the questions of toxicity to living beings, why is it allowed to be used? Shouldn't the dangers always outweigh the benefits in a case like this?

  1. Use it.

    It's safe.

  2. Canola stands for Canadian Oil Low Acid.  The toxic erucic acid is very low in the rapeseed oil marketed as canola.  Use it and enjoy.
