  1. No you do not have royal blood (at least not through Robert Devereux), however, you are related to Elizabeth I as a very very distant relative. Both you and Elizabeth I of England are a descendant of the famous Boleyn family. Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex (10 November 1566 – 25 February 1601), was a favorite of Queen Elizabeth I of England and distant cousin. His great-grandmother Mary Boleyn was a sister of Anne Boleyn, second wife of King Henry VIII and mother of Queen Elizabeth. He is only a relative of Elizabeth I through his mother, Lettice Knollys, who is the daughter of Catherine Carey, first cousin of Elizabeth I. Catherine Carey's mother was Mary Boleyn, who is the sister of Anne Boleyn, and an aunt of Elizabeth I of England.

You should still be proud of your family lineage to Mary Boleyn, who is also the ancestor to many other royal members, for example, Diana, Princess of Wales and Elizabeth II's mother could both trace their family lineage back to Mary Boleyn.

Note: Many historians believe that Catherine Carey is the reputed illegitimate offspring of King Henry VIII of England. Her mother Mary Boleyn was a mistress of Henry before he was married to Anne Boleyn. Therefore, if this fact was proven, you may also be the illegitimate descendant of King Henry VIII, which makes you an official "royal blood" member.

  2. It doesn't matter if you are related because under old English (Elizabethan) law Robert was tried and executed as a traitor for making an attempt on the Queens life and throne.

Convicted traitors and their families lost all their titles and land to the crown. There was a terrible scrabble to buy traitors land back from the crown at a bargain price after an execution.

Never mind its always something to brag about down the pub.

If you have the true Devereux spirit you could risk it all, fly to London and try to take the Palace. You could be a real Chip off the old block eh?
