  1. I think you're a bit confused.  Trunk Bay is not on Antigua, but on St. John, USVI.   St. John's is a town on Antigua.

For info from past passengers and recommendations on excursions, you can check out CruiseCritic.com.  Click on "Boards", then "Ports of Call", then your ports.

Doing excursions on your own is always possible, not always advisable, though the ports you mention are generally OK to do so.  [You can find out about that on the CC boards.]  This will almost always be cheaper and you'll avoid the "herd".  However, you MUST make sure you get back to the ship on time, as they will not wait for you unless you are on a ship-sponsored excursion.  Make sure you take the part of your daily activity sheet that gives the on-shore contact number for the ship, that you have a credit card, and at least a copy of your passport [the pros/cons of taking a copy vs the actual passport is also discussed on the boards], just in case.

    Have a great time!

  2. in Antigua, there are taxis waiting on the dock to take you anywhere you wish to go. There are usually two ladies that organize the taxis (legit).

San Juan, you can walk into the old town. There are plenty of stores.

St Maarten. There is a water taxi that will take you downtown to the stores ($5), but I would take a taxi to the French half of the Island. Much nicer with a distinct European feel.

St Kitts, you may have to get an organized tour. Brimstone fortress is kinda cool, if you like that sort of thing.

Tortola is GREAT. You can take a taxi to "Cane Garden Bay" which is one of the nicest beaches for about $8.

Great views as you drive over the top of the island.

    Have fun!
