Question:

If Salt Water/Sea Water is pumped inland and allowed to soak into the ground, will it filter out the salt?

and eventually end up adding to the water table? I am thinking that in drought areas around the world, it would keep the wells from running low.

  1. THE SALT WILL NOT ALL FILTER OUT AND THE WATER THAT IS THERE WILL BE CONTAMINATED AND THE GROUND WHERE YOU POUR THE SALT WATER WILL BE POISONED AND NOT MUCH IF ANYTHING WILL GROW THERE.

  4. No, there are no soil or rock layers that would filter the salt out of the water.

    Further, if there were such a rock or soil layer, the excess salt would lay waste to the valuable soil!

    Generally speaking, finding a way to store salt resulting from desalination is one of the biggest problems in converting sea water to potable water.
