If Socratic and Aristotelean are the adj forms of those philosophers, then what is the equivalent for JS Mill?

Millean? Millian? A more sophisticated, literary phrase than Mill-like!!

  1. if we look at bentham's...no aquinas [thomas]...john stuart's dad...js himself...they were all aristotelean leaning (excluded middle)..weren't they?

    perhaps spinoza might fit in here. but he was aristotelean also. none of them were cartesian though... i don't think... but then you have the degree....or are you just toying with us?

Utilitarian.  Mill's philosophy has a name wherein Socrates and Aristotle wrote more generally without any descriptive monikers for their philosophical ideas.  Actually, Socrates didn't write; we only know him through Plato.  Cool?  I have a BA in Philosophy--yeah yeah, I also have the cliche crummy job that goes with studying for intellectual pursuits instead of thinking about a living.
