  1. No one would be dominating.  Phil would be ranked 1st but it would be a tight race.  Just as the race for number 2 is now.  You can pretend just by watching the 25 or so events that El Tigre does not play.

  2. He would not dominate - but I believe he would be ranked No 1 - The Big Easy - Els.

  3. Nobody, it would be level compitition.

  4. Vijay Singh

  5. his twins.

  6. I'm thinking that if Tiger never played golf and I played golf instead of football, Phil Mickelson would be the best.

  7. i think Steve Flesch or Bubba Watson

  8. No one would, though mickleson would be my guess

  9. Lefty

  10. I think Ernie Els. He's a confidence guy. Perhaps Tiger has the biggest effect on a guy like this. A top five player who really isn't a master of "gamesmanship". He'd be much better if not for the constant "ego thrashing" Tiger puts on the field. Phil and Vijay are popular picks but I really think they would play about the same. Since Jim, Phil, VJ and Ernie are all about the same...I pick Ernie.

If there were no Tiger, Ernie would be better, and a better Ernie would be the best we have...

  11. Fred Flintstone

  12. Melo -

Interesting question, I have never really given it much though. Tiger is the same age as me, so he's pretty much been the dominant force in golf for as long as I can remember. Before him it was Norman who was on top of the World Rankings for a very long time, and Nick Price won some majors pre-Tiger as well.

It's hard to say who would be the Nick Price, Greg Norman if there was no Tiger..... Tiger has been beating these guys for so long (many of them since junior golf) that no one has really been able to step up and be a force in the last 10 years....

Mickleson would obviously be a factor, but he is far too inconsistent to be dominant. Els and Singh would also have won far more tourney's had Tiger not been around....it's hard to factor in, because if Els would have won a few of the majors when Tiger wasn't around he may have gained so much confidence that he would have steamrolled a few more majors....he may have 6 or 7 majors now with that boost in confidence....

Good question...I'm glad we never got to find out, I love watching Tiger play! :)

  13. no one. it would be much more balanced.

  14. Nobody would be dominating. Golf is hard to dominate.  The talent pool is extremely deep.  There are as many as 500 players good enough to win on a good week. (See Ben Curtis who won the British Open while not ranked in the top 300.)  If Tiger wasnt playing, things would be like they were in the 80's and early 90's- wide open.

  15. Phil Mickelson

  16. IT would be me and my wife.
