  1. I would have to say Ernie els. He comes by far 2nd the most times when tiger is playing. If he didn't injure himself, he would be challenging tiger right now. Phil isn't consistent enough and Vijay is too old

  2. Vijay or Ernie Els.

  3. Things would have been like they were back in the 70s and 80s with the top spot being a real competition and roatating constantly.  You'd see names like Mickelson, Els, Singh, maybe even Montgomerie.  Nobody else was gonna dominate like Tiger has, so I hope that wasn't the kind of answer you were looking for.  If not for Tiger, I don't think anyone would hold the No. 1 ranking for very long.  There are just too many good players out there.

  4. Of the top players, I think Vijay Singh was most inspired, by Tiger's dominance, to raise his level of play.

Without Tiger's presence, Vijay may not have worked as hard as he did.

For that reason, I think Ernie Els and Phil Mickelson would have attained the highest performance level in absence of Tiger.

Ernie, I believe, has been most ill-effected by Tiger's dominance.

  5. There probably would have been several that would have been on top.

  6. Phil

  7. Me!!!  Seriously though top contenders would be Vijay Singh, Justin Leonard, Phil Mickelson, and Stuart Cink just to name a few.  There are a ton of quality golfers out there, but when Tiger brings his A game, there are few who can compete with him.

  8. it would be a crapshoot

  9. Norman dominated for a while.  He had the longest streak at #1 before Tiger came along.  I think there would have been many more #1 players in the world because of all the fluctuation between #2 and beyond.  Mickelson, Furyk, Vijay, Stenson, Garcia, Stricker, Goosen, Els, and others have all been in the top 5 in the world.  As of right now, it's just Stricker and Mickelson that are currently there.  With that much fluctuation, if it wasn't for Tiger, there would be that much fluctuation in the #1 player.

  10. Jim Furyk. he is second right now to tiger, and he is extremely accurate

  11. the goose, the big easy or phil

  12. Ernie els, maybe tonnes others new golfers, who knows? =) but im rooting on luke donald though...

  13. Phil Mickelson

  14. Well, the most dominant golfer in the pre-Tiger Woods era was Greg Norman. I think that before David Duval had problems (ala Ian Baker Finch) he would have been one of the most dominant golfers at the time. Then of course you have people like Ernie Els, Vijay Singh, Sergio.

Other than TW, the field is pretty much even for everyone else.
