If WWE is about pushing wrestlers that move merchandise, why was Christian never pushed?

I'm just curious because a lot of people say (and probably rightfully so) that the main reason that they push people like Rey Mysterio and Cena is because they sell a lot of stuff. However, it's well documented that Christian's merchandise was bringing in just as much as those two during his stay (He seemed to quietly sell a lot of stuff). Why do you think that he never got a World title push despite that?

They're giving Ricky Ortiz a push, and now he's selling those weird cloth things which is totally stupid.

They mostly push guys with alot of fans, therefore if alot of fans like them,

they'll buy they're merchandise, watch WEEKLY since they will put them on every week, etc.

You know, I'm actually not sure. Maybe they already knew he wanted out. Perhaps Vince wasn't much of a fan, since people Vince isn't a fan of don't get pushes (see: Charlie Haas). Maybe the booking crew was just really stupid. Heck, maybe Christian was going to get pushed right after he left, they were just making space for him. Who knows?

But in TNA, he's greatly improved and become the main eventer he was ready to be, and that's all that matters.

Cause Christian sucks. Thats why he is with TNA now. TNA SUCKS TOO. Which means he fits in there.

Christian did slightly get a World Title push in 2005 if you remember. He was in the main event at Vengeance 2005 in a triple threat match for the WWE title against Jericho and Cena.

However, I don't know why the WWE never pushed him. He has all the talents they require. Mic skills, charisma, in ring talent, merchandise sales...what more could they want? My only guess is that Batista and Cena were the new main event guys, and Christian was held back because they were more focused on pushing Edge on Raw.
