If Webber wins he owes the championship to no one but Vettel- Sir Stirling Moss
No matter how much the media keeps insisting that Mark Webber’s brilliant performance is because of the RB6 car, Stirling Moss has a different view. He strongly believes that if Webber would be able to lay his hands on the first ever championship title of
his career, he should be thankful to his teammate, Sebastian Vettel.
The British motorsport legend Sir Stirling Moss, while talking to the media earlier today announced that the tough competition that the young German forced upon Webber is the major reason of the latter’s dramatic improvement.
Moss very openly said that the Australian driver had not been able to get teammates better than this one in the past years. He firmly believes that the tough rivalry and animosity that Webber has had with Vettel all through the season brought the best out
of the man.
"I think Vettel is probably making him find out where his limits are, I really do", Moss proclaimed. "I would say that Vettel is as fast as any driver out there now and the fact that Vettel is a teammate makes it even more important for him to have a go
and he's rallied around to it amazingly. He's doing a great job there. He's fit and he's really consistent now”.
Vettel is comparatively new to the Formula One world and of course a very promising driver for the future. After having driven for Toro Rosso, the junior team owned by the Austrian beverage company, Red Bull, the driver was picked up by Red Bull Racing last
year. In only two years’ time with the team he has proved to be one of the fastest drivers of the series.
While talking about both the Red Bull drivers, Moss commented that Vettel is younger than his teammate and far more impetuous. Both these things, Moss considers, have helped Webber to strive even harder and rise to the top.
While talking about Webber’s chances of the title, the legendary former racer said, “Of all the people that one could think of who deserve it, he deserves it as much as anybody else because he has upped his game tremendously and I think he'd be a very worthy
World champion. He has come through it all very, very well. It would be very good for him and it would be great for Australia".
If Webber is able to win this year’s title he would be the first Australian racer in 30 years to embrace the championship. The last one was Alan Jones, who bagged the title in 1980.
