  1. We do have the same rights as men in America.

  2. There has never been any evidence that shows women and men are equal.

It's a "politically correct" idea or "opinion". It's not a fact.

  3. I do not know who told women about this equal thing....

  4. Because record producers thought that song had a good ring to it.

  5. I suppose "because men built the cities and fought the wars" and all that c**p. (although they did fight the wars, and if you did i thank you.)

  6. It takes time for "world view" to update. It's historically been a "Man's World," but I don't expect it to stay that way. Give it time...

  7. Tracey: Actually i generally see the term being used by feminists when complaining about the unfair advantages men apparently have.

Who calls it a man's world anyway?

  8. It's not.

    Not anymore anyway...

  9. In the phrase "A man's world"  Man doesn't pertain to guyor male or boy.  Its a general term for a person or human as define in Wikipedia.

The English term "Man" (from Proto-Germanic mannaz "man, person") and words derived therefrom can designate any or even all of the human race regardless of their gender or age.

Hope it will enlightened you a bit.

  10. This really depends on your definition of "Equal".  We have an equal opportunity to achieve everything a man can achieve, but in general women are not as physically strong as men, hence the history of being oppressed.

  11. It isn't a man's world any more. I'm not sure it ever was; women and men have always made an equal contribution to society, it's just that the choices people had were limited and they were confined in their roles. There were expectations and pressures on both genders.

Edit: Men have never oppressed women. The cultural norms of the time oppressed many minority groups, but in Western society that has changed. I don't believe that the glass ceiling or the gender pay gap exists... men do hold the majority of high status positions, but that's because less women want to, not because we're being oppressed.

  12. Things have changed greatly in industrial nations but simply look at the makeup of CEO's/senators/congresspeople/governors/... firms/ etc., and there is an overrepresentation of men even in countries that promote equality.

Look to the Middle East and other countries and you will rarely see anything approaching equality.

So, it's still a man's world but changing a little bit every day.

  13. Women STILL make .74 to the $1.00 that men make.

Women are equal POLITICALLY- we can vote, and now you cannot LEGALLY discriminate against women just because they are women... but in a business setting, it IS a man's world.

Every ones perspective on this is going to be different all of the time.  I'm sorry that you are going to get a million and one different answers... but that's society for ya.  It's not equal, and women who get MEAN about it don't help.  I'm not saying not to be LOUD, because LOUD is good, but obnoxious and mean certainly does not help the cause of "feminism".  Feminism has changed over the years, now our society sees it as a group of pushy, loud, obnoxious women, and that's really a shame, because the foundation remains the same, but has been obscured by some rather... pushy, loud, obnoxious women.  LOL!  I believe education, wit and intelligence is the way to equality, not bitchiness.   But then again... that's just me.
