If Yahoo change the room 'topic' here from "Global Warming" to "Climate Change" would you feel differently?

Global Warming seems to be a phrase that's heard less often now that people call it Climate Change. I think the name was changed to be 'all-encompassing', so that that it covers all kinds of climate, making things move convenient for Al Gore and his buddies. Any kind of weather/climate change falls under that category.

Do the words "Climate Change" make you think differently about the topic, or is it the same thing? Do you think it was just a slick tactical move (like me), or does it more aptly describe the true situation? Just curious what you think here.

Personally, I'm a bigger fan of "climate change".

"Global warming" is something of a misnomer in my opinion given that some places will really just get wetter, which tends to equal *cooler*.  Maybe the entire planet is getting warmer on average, but that doesn't mean every individual spot on the planet is.  

I happen to live in one of the areas expected to mostly just get wetter, and "people on the street" around here seem more likely to think we really have global cooling going on, if anything, based on what it feels like outside.  If we'd call it "climate change", then more people might actually care.

Both are meaningless buzzwords designed to make people submissive and groom us all to pay the coming "carbon tax."  That way people who have some money will be required to give it to others who don't want to work or we'll give it to Africa's corrupt governments which will waste billions.

Davem, the Green extremists are changing their term because the latest facts support the belief were actually entering a cooling trend.  Of course, this does not help the "Global warming" movement, as it is actually one based on converting the world to Marxism with the "chosen ones' as the controlling elite.

In such a world, our each and every action will be monitored and weighed for it's supposed effect on the environment.  Of course, for a fee we will be able to continue such actions, OR if you are a member of the elite (Al Gore) you will continue to fly private jets and drive limousines....

It says the same thing with different words, but the very concept is false from the beginning. 90% of the so-called climate change occurred before 1935. In fact 1934 is the warmest year on record all around the world and the coldest is in the 1880s. the recent year 1998 is only the second warmest year in the last 200 so where is the real data to panic on. In the 1880s a scientific research ship was lost off the Siberian coast after drifting in ice packs for several years and only a small number of her crew survived.

In the 1940s we were running fleets of supply ships through there to take arms and food to the Russians. What changed it warmed up and there was a functional Arctic Ocean passage in regular use from about 1938 through 1950. During the 1950s this closed up to where there was only minimal periods when ships could pass through there, by the 70s it was almost as well blocked by ice as it had been in 1880. Now the passages are open again in the summer months for a few years and it is beginning to look like another cold cycle is starting. We will know for sure in another 10 years and in 20 or 30 it might or might not warm up again. Nature has been doing this now for ten thousand years since the end of the last ice age when all the disasters the AGW people are predicting for the future actually happened.

Only we no longer have that 2 to 5 mile thick ice cap to raise sea levels with any more.

Global warming proponents advocate the reduction of anthropogenic carbon dioxide generation based on the mechanism of the greenhouse effect. "Climate change" connotes the possibility of global cooling which is antithetical to the scientific basis of the greenhouse effect. Therefore, whenever I hear the phrase "climate change", I realize that the proponents either have no idea of how the phrase negates their scientific argument or they are simply prostitutes to the catch-word of the day. Either way, “climate change” is a phrase far more revealing of the proponents motives than it is of any threat to modern civilization.
