Question

What is your explanation for the situation in the world?

Vot means;

- the increasing pollution and its effects?

- the disappearing forests and growing deserts?

- the extinction of animal species?

The Bible offers an explanation for this and more, but Vot is interested in other explanations out there.

Most interesting to Vot are the answers of people who accept evolution as fact- are these above-mentioned problems in any way advantageous for us and the future of our and other species?

>People are living longer due to better medical technology - more people are surviving childhood for teh same reason, and as human beings there is no "survival of the fittest" as there is in the rest of the animal kingdom. If a child is born without a leg it's cared for and survives, if this happens in the wild it's picked off by predators.

Evolution has NOTHING to do with pollution or deforestation. That is just human greed, slovenliness, and ignorance, plain and simple.

Extinction has little to nothing to do with evolution, as well. Extinction is simply the wiping out of species due to unfavourable environments, or over predation by another animal. In some rare instances, you will find genetic mutations in offspring that render a species unable to procreate, but that has a very limited role in extinction.

Man's inhumanity to man & the planet that they share.

As for these problems be advantageous, well... Survival of the fittest. We have to s***w up big time in order to learn a much needed lesson sometimes. It's not pretty, but this is more or less what is occuring.

Humans are resourceful and crafty little buggers though. There is no telling what creative solutions we might develop to all of these problems if given the time to solve them.

I have a lot of hope for us, if we learn from this, and strive to do better.

not sure I understand. the increasing population is because humans have become so good at surviving that not enough of us are dying, and the growth rate therefore is more then the death rate.

dissapearing forests are again our fault, we chopped them down. the deserts growing I think are natural... you could look it up

extinction is also partly our fault. we make too much of an impact on the world because we are so large in numbers... not all the things are good.
