If a AV reciever has a Digital audio (TOSLINK) input, then does that mean I can connect my PS3?

Can I connect it for surround sound? Which cable will I need if I can connect it?

  1. Yes just use the optical cable from the ps3 to the receiver.TOSLINK just stands for the digital optical input-its what gives you the surround effect in the movies

Yes.  All you'll need is an optical cable.  You can run that from the PS3 into the receiver.  On the back of the receiver there is usually an input name for the optical input, such as CD or DVD/VCR or something along those lines, just so you know which input to select on the receiver to get PS3 digital audio.

  3. You can connect a PS3 to any receiver. If you have a TOSLINK (which is just the type of end that is on certain optical cables), then you can hook it up so you have digital sound.
