  1. No.

    Just make sure that you go to the US Embassy and renew your passport if it expires while you are gone.

  2. No.  A US citizen can, theoretically, enter the US without any ID at all.  But you can expect trouble if you do not have a valid passport.  You could even be detained and interrogated for hours or even days while your identity is verified.

  3. of course not, if you are a citizen you may do as you wish, just keep up with the validity of your passport, that is all,

    you do not need anything, just your passport,make sure it is still valid that is all,

    # no,nobody can enter the US without a passort; no airlines would let you on board,#

    that is why they have embassies and consulates;

    ps:

    what does she need before leaving? a valid passport, and if she want she may report her stay at the US embassy where she is going to be,

    ps: as for entering the US without a passport?

    US citizens will need passports to return home

    Tourism officials fear rule requiring passports for returning US citizens will hurt their industry

    #Three years after Congress first moved to require every traveler entering this country hold a passport, including US citizens,# the rule is finally taking effect Jan. 23 -- and roiling the tourism industry from Toronto to Tortola.

    News Alerts For years, US citizens have been able to travel to Bermuda, Canada, Mexico, and many Caribbean destinations and get back into the United States without a passport, as long as they had proof of identity, such as a birth certificate and driver's license. That ends Jan. 23 for everyone traveling by air.

  4. unless  you voluntarily relinquish you US citizenship   yo will never loose it  regardless how long you remain outside

  5. You would need your passport to be current or a military ID. You never lose your U.S. citizenship once you have it. You can I believe give it up intentionally if you wish to permanently immigrate to another country. I don't know what is all involved in that process though. If you keep your citizenship though you still have to pay taxes! Uncle Sam is EVERYWHERE!
