I consider myself a very liberal person and am registered to vote as independent. I'm for national healthcare and stuff like that but I never thought that there was a double standard in America (or at least a higher standard held to White Americans) until I read about the Don Imus case on CNN.

Black Hip Hop musical artists can say the most horrible things about women and White people but you can't even make a light hearted joke about basketball players without loosing your job if your skin is White.

I thought that today we were beyond barriers of color but even today people can't see beyond color, as in the Imus case.

As a Liberal American I find the double standard shocking. What happened to Martin Luther Kings message of equality? I guess people today forget his message. Ignorant people label us as "Racists" just because our skin is White.

  1. Hey. How are you spending your Labor Day today?  Thanx in advanced and G-D bless.

  2. Good Question. But I think its racist even though you are just jamming to the song.

  3. no.

um this double standard has been discussed thousands of times. maybe we should start doing something about it?

affirmative action is another double standard

  4. Who cares what those monkeys are singing about, all they can do is complain cause they aren't good for anything else.

  5. Sure, why not?

  6. dark people get away with anything. I say we keep light skinned blacks and deport the mean ones

  7. Well, to be honest, if he were a rapper, or singer, no one would have said anything about it. But Imus was speaking specifically about these women. If any one including a black person were to make racial slurrs personally like that, I'm sure they would have been dealt with. I don't think any one in their right mind who wasn't a stand up comedian or a rapper would say something like that and think they can get away with it. I honestly can't think of one person of color who made a personal remark about someone racially and in such a de-grading manner.

But you're right, these entertainers of all ages and races need to quit speaking about us women as they are doing. It's making our women believe it's okay, or even a compliment. I have a 2 year old daughter and I'm scared to think about what men will be saying when she's my age.

  8. if you watched snoop doggs interview the other day on TV

you would have saw/heard that he loves it when other cultures and races sings his songs! the only thing is just know what your saying.

you are free to listen and to sing whatever you want
