She claims she is a christians, she believes in god, BUT thinks the bible is fictious....

this i dont understand?

Surely if a bible was NEVER written, there would be no such things as christians, and they wouldnt believe in the christian god?

and even IF lets say, the bible was never written, but their still was a jesus....well there is no historical proof of this man, the only reason we know about jesus is through the bible.

Do you agree that without the bible, there would be no christianity?

and if you do agree, then how do you justify christians believeing in god.....but not the bible?

  1. There would be gods. I don't think it would be that god specifically, and without a core text to point at and say 'See, I'm right' there would be alot fewer social issues, and alot less calcification of religion.

Basically, we'd have more pagan and family religions, and probably a few more viable wars, and a few less impossible wars with out it.

  2. Yes (to the question itself; the details I didn't read).

  3. People have always believed in some form. In the earliest days they believed in rain gods and sun gods.

It is in man's nature to believe in something greater.

But if you maybe rephrase the Q and say If the Bible was never written, would people still believe in the Desert God.

    Hopefully not!!

  4. Well for me personally with all the supernatural occurrences that I have had in my life, if I didn't know it was GOD I would have gone insane by now. But I personally believe in the Holy Bible with all my heart, soul, and mind. Here is a copy and paste from another question that was kinda similar,

Well what you have to remember is the Holy Bible is not like any other Book on the face of this planet, it is a Supernatural Spiritual Book. And it contains Spiritual Truths, so you need to get yourself as quiet and calm and relaxed as possible by dwelling on your idea of Jesus and visualize Him standing with His arms stretched out to you. Then after you let the peace of God rule in your heart then ask God the Father Jehovah to send His Holy Spirit to interpret the True meaning of His Word to you. Then begin to slowly read, and focus on His Word and letting the Peace of God rule in your heart. Do not try to interpret what you read and in His good time the Holy Spirit will give you Revelation knowledge of it's True meaning. The reason God speaks to us in a small still voice is so we have to get ourselves quiet and still to hear Him, that is the atmosphere He chooses to work in.

Joh:4:24: God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Remember the Cross is a positive sign (+) a sign for us to be positive.

Take care and may God bless you spiritually.

  5. Yes, because Jesus would of still came and if the bible wasnt written, another holy book wouldof been =D

  6. This is how I see it...

!. People passed stories down from generation to generation.

    2. They wrote down their story...creating the torah.

    3. Jesus comes along, starts christianity. his followers created the bible.

Many people need something to believe in, others don't. That's why there's so many different religions. People follow what they want to believe is the truth.

  7. Yes they would. I don't have strong beliefs about religions but I do believe in God. Because something/someone must have started, created everything - the beginning.

Everyone has a brain. Just like we think "that's wrong" and "that's bad", we can have our own thoughts about God, what He wants and why we are here.

Before Bible, there were still people in the world. They had different religions, diffirent theories. Probably hundreds of years from now, people will believe in different things.

Religions are like real estates, God is the home.

  8. The Torah existed first.

  9. The book is fiction in my opinion

But it is full of everything you people beleive in

So if someone who claims to be Christian thinks its ficticious then they obviously are moching their own religion, right?

Eh, not sure, you religious people are con-fuuu-sing!

    ATHEISM BABY!

  10. nope

  11. Sure they would.  They would just have a different holy book with a different set of doctrines.  This hypothetical religion would probably be just as replete with idiots and fundamentalists.

  12. Bible is the third holy book revealed by ALLAH to Jesus[peace be upon him]. two books existed before it.

according to trend now the fourth and last book had been revealed to Muhammad[peace be upon him].now everyone must follow Quran.

  13.     Before writing, religion was an oral tradition. Yes, so even if there was never a holy book written there would still be religion.

  14. I think it would be more difficult to understand His works without the Bible.

I don't agree with her comment. In order to be a Christian, one can't just treat people with respect, one needs to accept that Jesus came to Earth to die for our sins, as it says in the Bible. If she does not accept this, she is not a Christian.

  15. There was true worship of YHVH before the Scriptures were written.  Think of Abraham, for example.  There are many things in scripture that are hard to understand, which people wrest to their own destruction.  It is the nature of man to worship what is more powerful than himself.  Hopefully some will choose to worship the true creator, and then receive salvation from Him.

  16. There would be believers in god if the bible had not been written. No bible, no christianity. Jews would believe in God. Muslims would believe in God.

  17. I believe God's people existed before the Bible. So it is entirely possible ot believe without the Bible. Jesus is the true word of God and the truth is revealed by the Holy Spirit.

However the Bible is revealed as true by the spirit and the spirit does not disagree with the word.

So I don't believe in Christians who reject the word of God.

  18. Christianity existed before the bible; however, it is clear that the bible is why Christianity is as diluted as it is today.

  19. That's an interesting question!  I think If there were no bible, we wouldn't know anything about Jesus unless things were past down among the generations by another book or word of mouth. A lot of Christians believe in God, but they realize or believe or however you want to say it without offending anyone, that the bible is mostly parables.

  20. Ask Abraham, Job, Lot, Jacob, Isaac or Joseph. They had no written law.

  21. You asked: Do you agree that without the bible, there would be no Christianity?

That makes perfect sense to me. And you are right on target, since the records of his story are only in the Bible.... except of course for the Nag Hammadi Library... but those documents were discovered in the 40s, so you are still right since there would have been almost a two thousand year gap... no Catholic Church and no tradition for the Protestants to protest. VERY INTERESTING question. Good thinking!! I'm sure glad there are people here who think for themselves.

And I will add something to this puzzle. The Christianity we have today comes from Paul's letters, so if our knowledge now only came from Nag Hammadi, then we would have the GENUINE Christianity, and not is Pauline Substitute. More on my bio.

That was a GREAT question. Keep thinking and give us more of your thinking.
