The water is flowing at a right angle to the boat. Can someone please tell me the resulting speed and how you came to that?

I was thinking it would be 10 km/h. I know this may be an easy question but its for my summer work for my sophomore honors chemistry class.

  1. I believe you are correct.  A horizontal vector at 8 km/h and a straight vector going 6.  Make a vector that creates a  triangle, which is the hypotenuse of the triangle and you have 6^2 + 8^2 = 100 and square root of that is 10
