so in other words, my friends and i buried a memory box underground but we just dug enough so it could be covered, and we tried to redig it but couldnt find it, so how far down would it be today? Would there be a lot more dirt that we would have to dig up now or is it pretty much still the same distance underground?

  1. It would be at the center of the earth.

  2. Assuming no change in the environment (ie volcanic eruption, hurricane, etc), then it would be in the same spot you buried it at.  It takes hundreds of thousands of years just to create an inch or less of soil.

  3. Unless you're in sand-dunes or tundra,

it should still be very close to where you left it.

If it isn't, somebody took it.

Are you sure you've got the right spot?

  4. p**p

  5. It would depend on the nature of the surrounding terrain and other effects.  It might be exposed to some degree due to erosion (wind and/or water), or it might be covered even deeper due to deposition of material.  Ordinary deposition would add very little additional covering.
