ok my dad got stuck on a hill and we filled up one of those gallon containers of gas into the car. The car still would not start. I say since the car is on a pretty steep hill that the gas is not getting pumped into the engine. My dad says the car is out of battery but i find that hard to believe. He just called AAA and wondering what the problem was. My dad has a thing where he thinks he is always right you are wrong, yet he get lucky and what he think is happening is what he says would happen.

  1. It is a very real possibility that you are correct, however, if he crank and cranked when he knew it was not going to start, then the battery may well be dead. Why can't both of you be right?

I know how disputes with parents go, and let me tell you this. If your dad wants to be right, let him be right, what difference does it make? I know, I know, its hard on the pride to let someone walk around thinking they were right, but so long as the vehicle does get sorted, then it makes no difference who was right. Don't push it, because its very childish to push and push something just because you want to see the other person be wrong, and if you turn out to be right, and you try to rub it in his face, you have just damaged a relationship for no reason what-so-ever. Just let what happens happen, if the car gets fixed, then it doesn't matter who was right about it. Let him be right....even if hes not.

  2. NO unless you drained the battery trying to start it.it might be the fuel pump.As for dad he has been a round the block a couple of time's give him a little space.

  3. You have the correct answer, but your dad (like ALL dads) will never admit it.

  4. no being out of gas will however make your fuel pump go out faster but it will not drain the battery unless u continue to try and start the car without gas then it will drain the battery

  5. No, it won't drain the battery, (provided you didn't leave the lights and such on for hours.... but not having gas in the car will not drain the battery.)

Running out of gas completely is bad.   because of being on a hill, the engine is prolly stalling before it can get enough gas to catch.  try seeing if you can turn the car around and get it rolling down the hill... then try starting it.  (Just like the old carberators in winter.  :D )

  6. Here's the deal, junior. The only times your car uses its battery are when you start it, when you run accessories like lights, radios, fans, and other things when the engine is off, or if there is a problem with your alternator where it is not producing electricity. Otherwise, the alternator runs the electrical system. So, if you are out of gas and trying to start the car, the starter will eventually drain the battery. There is a direct connection between being out of gas and killing your battery, but only if you are stupid and you continue to crank the engine when it isn't starting.

  7. The battery has nothing to do with it...if yo can hear the car trying to start the batterys fine....

if the car's battery died when you where driving it was a bad altanator...

it also might be a bad fuel pump..not sending the gas to the engine from the gas tank...

  8. no the battery is not dead unless the car has been standing for a very long time why not let the car roll down the hill and bump start it that would be easy
