  1. Whatever the parents are.

  2. *grins* If the flight is on the way to Australia the child can be registered in the state that the plane lands in. As a result Australian citizenship will automatically be given if the child has at least one Australian parent.

PS your question reminds me of another one a friend asked.

What do you write (for where the child is born) when they are born en route to a hospital? The answer is the suburb of which they first took breath in.

  3. First and foremost, the child will get the nationality of the parents. Second, if they mom was allowed by the airline to travel, then the baby will get the nationality of that airline if in international airspace, but of the country if in that country's airspace. You will need the cooperation of the airline to be given this privilege. All these are still trumped by the country's laws on acquiring citizenship.**

  4. most airlines will not let you board the plane if you pregnancy is well advanced , not sure how many months ?

Avoid air travel in the last few weeks of pregnancy, most airlines enforce this rule

If both parent are citizens of x, chances are good baby will get x citizenship by birth. There are some exceptions.

If parents' nationalities vary, child will get both unless one of the nations has rules against dual citizenship or if parents are not married. So basically it is hard to say because each country has a very defined approach. Most would simply consider this "born abroad" to citizens of our country.

Nationality would simply be determined by the law of the parents' country; most probably in all cases ending in the child receiving the citizenship of that state (where the parents are from), a principle called jus Sanguinis.

  5. can also be the citizen of the air field in which the plane is

  6. Depends on the citizenship of the mother and the policy of citizenship for the country that the plane is currently over.

  7. Different countries have different policies for defining citizenship.

In order to be a natural born citizen of the USA, you must be born on US soil or at least one of your parents must be a citizen of the US.

  8. whatever country their parents are a citizen of
