If a collections agency contacts you, can you just pay the debt to the original creditor instead?

Usually those collections people are aggressive, threatening and unwilling to compromise. Could I just contact my original creditor and work with them instead?

You could try contacting the original creditor but it is likely that they will direct you to the collection agency.  Usually the debt is sold to the collection agency and you have to deal with them.

no because you dont owe the original creditor now. you owe them. you could have paid it off with the original creditor 1st
