If a company has the word "group" in it, is it a buzz word for a certain kind of company?

Does it just mean a group of companies or can it be a group of people?

  1. It means that it is a parent company with a subsidiary or subsidiaries and perhaps associated companies as well. It's never a group of people. A group of people who are not incorporated are just partners in a partnership.
