If a company in its financials has a N/A or a - next to its debt does it it mean it has no debt?????

I am trying to pick APOL stock and it appears as if they have no debt

  1. Yes.  At least it means they don't have the type of debt on that particular line.  For example, they might have no short term debt, but they do have long term debt.  Be sure to read all the financials and the notes to the financials to get a clear picture.


  2. Look on the balance sheet.  APOL has no long term debt.  So the debt to equity ratio is N/A, not applicable.
