Question:

If a cop doesn't give you a written warning slip, is it definitely off the record?

I know that's the way it's supposed to work, but are there exceptions? I got pulled over for speeding (22 over) and he let me go with a warning, but didn't give me a slip of paper that says warning...could he have still put it in the system or would he HAVE to give me a copy if he did?

Thanks!

  1. No, it is not in the system.  It is not recorded.

  2. it might be in the system that a warning was issued even if he/she didn't give you a ticket...it won't really matter unless you get pulled over again and the new cop sees that you were issued a warning.

  3. 22+ , YOU GOT LUCKY!!!

Do your best not to break the law for 1 year, even though he didn't give you a slip, he could still have it in his possession, and turn it in if you were to break the law! Better to be safe than sorry!!!

  4. No, you should be good. After the stop depending on the Dept. they might log it as verbal warning. But usually doesn't matter. Take it as it was, a warning be careful.

  5. Warnings are just that, a warning. I use to keep the warnings in a file card system, I kept in my briefcase.(FIR's, Field interrogation Reports)

Usually most people sought the warning and watched their activity. Some never learn, so a repeat warning was a ticket, automatic, no qualms about it.

  6. ive gotten a warning before and i never got a warning slip. ive been in the car with some friends that got pulled over too and they got warnings and also never got a warning slip. i ddint know there was a warning slip
