  1. Depends on what police authority they have...are they Texas state police, then yes they can whenever...are they kentucky, then no they cannot....

However, if you are talking about city police where they are close together then many states allow that they can but just don't encourage the practice because the court jurisdiction changes so the officer would be forced to make the court date and court in the city he was in at the time and not where he is employed....this can be a problem for the officer, not necessarily you, the offender.

Moral of the story, how about you slow down or don't commit crime!  No problem would exist then...

  2. If someones driving was a risk to themselves or others I would say yes.....protect and serve

  3. If they are in "hot" pursuit, they can pull you over anywhere.

In California, sheriff's deputies can make arrests/traffic stops in ANY part of the county, including any city - whereas local police officers are generally limited to their own jurisdiction.

However, deputies would (as a courtesy) notify the "foreign" agency if they're making any arrests in another jurisdiction (within their own county).

    Calif Deputy

  4. Yes they can. But they wont stop you for a little minor thing it would have to be excessive speeding or registration or something of that sort.

  5. I thought it was the Dallas/Ft Worth are anyhow.  So I'd have to say yes, he has jurisdiction over that area.  Most counties have cross county jurisdiction anyhow.  Best bet is to just stay legal.
