  1. No, that is why you must carry a proof of insurance card with you at all times.  


  2. In the UK they'd know immediately, in NJ they still ask you for the certificate.

  3. No. But if he pulls you over there is a phone number on all NJ insurance cards now to verfiy coverage. Don't mess around with no insurance in NJ. The penalty is worse than a first time DWI.

  4. Not directly, but it does show if your registration has been cancelled by the DMV due to you not having insurance.

  5. no they can not tell until you give them your insurance card and they run it. thats why if you dont have your card, you will get a ticket for no insurance....which then you have to go to court and prove you had coverage on the date you got pulled over.
