  1. In this case, most of the corrections officers are Sheriffs department employees and wear the same uniform. This job is normally an entry level job to qualify to be a Deputy. You would start working in the jail and work your way up to full Deputy.  


  2. That would be a question for the administration of that dept.  The correctional officers in our jail wear the same uniform the deputies do, although there is a different patch on the left shoulder.

A corrections (or correctional) officer is an employee of the Sheriff's Department, assigned to the corrections division (jail), and is authorized to wear the logo of that sheriff's department.  In some places, the uniform of the corrections division is the same as the patrol division (street deputies) and in other places they will be a diferent color uniform to denote work assignment, but they are all in the same sheriff's department.
