  1. The question is vague, but strictly speaking TRUE.  Contamination may destroy evidence (thus preventing its recognition).

    In real life it would depend on what kind of contamination and what kind of evidence.


  2. Not necessarily. But it may compromise the case or at least the evidence that has been altered or potentially contaminated. Contaminating a crime scene can mean many things. If you have a fatal car crash for instance, other vehicles driving by may cause a contamination of the scene. Does not mean the case will be lost, just possibly some of the evidence.
