So this count of 10million will be equal to the total number of pixels appearing in the captured image. Is this true or false? Please explain.

  1. True (if camera is set to the highest settings). Sometimes the actual number of pixels on the sensor is a little higher than the number used to make the image, so to be more correct: the effective megapixels of the sensor is the number of pixels in the image if taken at highest settings.

Since most cameras take pictures at a ~4:3 ratio, 10MP will make an image up to 3650 x 2740 = 10,000,000
