do you literally take i every 6 hours?

Well first I want to say that this may sound like a retarded question but Im not 100% sure on it .... because I've never really taken medications for any reason

but recently i had a minor surgery and they gave me a few medications...

and on the bottle it says "take every 6 hours"

do i LITERALLY take it every 6 hours? meaning i take it while im asleep too (set an alarm clock and wake up and take it or only in the daytime while im awake)

someone told me to only take it in the day time and sleep at night and dont wake up take it

so would i take it at 6am, then 12pm, then 6pm,, then 12am?

again sorry for this question....

and if it matters if a medication to help prevent sereve bleeding

  1. I think a doctor would tell you to adhere as close as you can to the every 6 hours.  I doubt they'd tell you to wake up to take it, unless you sleep more than 8 hours a night.  I would call to make sure though.  Assuming that you sleep for 8 hours, your regimen would probably be something like this.  6am, 12pm,6pm, 10pm, 6am etc.  Check to be sure though!

  2. Call your doctor's office and ask. Also, you can call a 24-hour pharmacy and ask them. Look for CVS which has some 24-hours locations and perhaps Walgreens might. But the BEST thing to do is call your doctor's office.

  3. Yes, if it's something important to prevent severe bleeding then you need to take it every six hours. That means waking up if you need to. If it were painkillers you could get away with taking it while only awake. Hope you feel better!

  4. is the medication for bleeding after a miscarriage?  If yes then take it every 6 hours as prescribed.  It would help if i knew the name of the medicine.   You can look the med up on google yourself or call your pharmacy and they can tell you the answer to your question.  Check up on this before you just ignore the doctors orders.

  5. you need to contact your doctor with this question.  i do not know what you are taking and for the exact reasons .  I take prograf and i literally have to take it every 12 hours.  some medications, yours for example, you just have to wait  6 hours at least until you can take more.  Anyway, there is no way anyone here can know. Please call your doctor to clear up the confusion.  it is not a dumb question, it is important

    be well

  6. When ever you take that first pill, then 6 hrs later you take it again, then 6 hours later and so on.And yes especially for bleeding.

  7. Preventing severe bleeding sounds serious enough to me to justify taking meds every six hours on the dot. I'd set the alarm clock.
