  1. this will not hurt their teeth.its pretty common with hamsters, especialy when they dont have a chewing block.go to any pet store and get a chewing block.it is like a toy that they gnaw on because there teeth get to long and if they get to long they will die, thats why he is chewing on the bars.but you should be able to get a chewing block for about 2-3 dollars.i hope i helped.

  2. no. Hamster teeth are constantly growing. You might want to get it a chewing block or something.

  3. No, it won't make his teeth crooked, but:

Hamster teeth keep growing for the entire life of the hamster. He is trying to wear them down. Buy him some wood hamster toys to gnaw on. He can not properly wear them down on the metal and may break his teeth or injure himself trying to gnaw the metal.

In addition to wood chews, cardboard can also be provided for chewing (and for hiding). Ideally, choose cardboard with as little ink as possible as there has been concern over the content of commercial inks in the past (I can find no solid evidence one way or the other on the safety of colored cardboard, and I have used colored cardboard for my mice, so don't panic if you are using colored cardboard). Hamsters also love cardboard tubes from paper towel and toilet paper rolls, although some people are also concerned about the safety of the glues used in these. Many hamsters regularly chew these items without problems, but if you are concerned there are now commercial tubes that are a bit sturdier and are said to be safe for chewing

If he can not gnaw on wood, his teeth may grow so long that he can not even eat!   ( A vet is able to trim long teeth )

  4. No - lots of hamsters do that.

  5. Nope! Hamsters need to bite on their cages or a biting block or something to shorten their teeth, which are constantly growing, so they can eat! If they don't shorten their teeth and they grow to long, then they can't eat or shorten them, because they can't even open their mouths! And you never want to get to that, because they have a painful death, by starving :( So biting is good!

  6. a hamster has very strong teeth ,

but in any case, metal is not healthy for any animal to chew

try buying a wood block at your local pet store, it will help strengthen your hammy's teeth, and take it's mind off of the metal.

    good luck !

  7. No, his teeth won't go crooked. My dwarf hamster does that all the time. You can always just give your hamster a hard treat to chew on, that can substitute chewing on the bars for a while. A lot of hamsters will just ignore the chewing block you put in there ,but you could use tp rolls.

The worst thing that can happen is he breaks his teeth, or injure himself, both can be fatal! If your willing to, you should buy a glass cage, there's a smaller chance of him escaping and breaking his teeth.

    Good luck!
