If a hamster goes a while with out a cage mate... then could it get use to having a cage mate again...?

my husband wants to know if Quetip (the hamster) could get along with Spazzii (the gerbil) if we introduce them on a daily basis for long periods of time... thourgh out the day... with constant watch... could she learn to share...?

  1. No. Is it a syrian hamster? Syrian hamsters are highly territorial and solitary animals. Plus, it's never a good idea to mix species. Your gerbil should have a same s*x, same /species/ friend. Unlike hamsters,  gerbils are social animals.


  2. Darksong is completely correct. Mixing species generally does not work out, especially if the hamster is Syrian (any of the "bear" hamsters). Get your gerbil another gerbil friend, as they are social and live in colonies.
