Question:

If a horse back is out then what?

my horse has a sore back and it is getting fixed on monday leaving it will it get worse and after it is back in how lond after can he be ridden Ill put liminit it but has any one had this what did you do I dont want to make it worse by riding him or not riding him after he is fixed

  1. After your horse gets adjusted or whatever you are having done to him, I would give him a day or two off after the adjustment. During those two days I would cold hose his back for about ten minutes to relieve any stress in the muscles. Also I would check your saddle fit and make sure that isn't what is causing problems. If you dont know how to check the saddle fit then I am sure that there is  a Pro. in your area that knows how to.

  3. I am not exactly sure what your question is. If your horse's back is sore you will need to stop riding him for awhile. Lunging, turnout, hand walking, and swimming (if available) are ways to exercise without riding. What do you mean your horse's back is getting "fixed"? Is it having surgery? The vet should tell you how long until you can ride.

  4. Swimming the horse is great therapy for a sore back. Otherwise just gentle lunging is good gentle exercise. The person who fixes your horses back should advise you how long until the horse is fit to be ridden.
