If a horse tends to gain his/her weight all in the buttocks region,can isolated exercises help trim the fat?

  1. Some horse just have huge rear ends (many quarter horses) and it's part of their conformation.

    If it really is fat there, and not muscle, I'd do some hill work.  They have to work hard to get up hills, and the hind end is like the engine that pushes them upward, so it should work his hind end pretty well.


  2. You could try backing it up some hills to try and burn those caleries, but that may make it build muscle and give the horse a different kind of fat butt :)  OR you could change your feed and see if that helps

  3. yeah hill work to trim it down. but horses butts are massive. it's normal for western breeds and drafts also spanish breeds
