Not where I come from.  It not that beating a woman is legal, but the kanes are very protective, and most will defend any woman being hit by a man.  Auwe, aole hilahila!  =P

Yes, he'd be arrested for assault and battery.  If the evidence is sufficient the prosecution will charge him.  Secular law will determine if the burden of proof is met for conviction and the judge will determine his sentence if he's convicted.

He'll get arrested if the police are around or if they're called.  Or, he's liable to get himself injured if he does it in front of the wrong people who want to beat him down themselves for it.

I have personally seen the reverse of this on a few occasions (woman hitting a man), and no one does a thing, so I guess if nobody helps the woman we've got equality here.

This man deserves to be in jail.  I didn't have the sound turned up loud enough to hear them, but unless she threatened to kill him or something like that he doesn't have a right to hit her just over something she said.

Yes he should be arrested not only did he hit her he prevented her from leaving the argument as she clearly tried to do.

So yes he should be arrested and face whatever penalty the law alows.

  A better question would have been if a woman hit a man would she be arrested.

Wow, that was awful, the person that made the video should have approached the woman and they could have taken the proof to the police.

Yes he most likely would be arrested.  This would be regardless of whether he threw the first punch or she did.In this case, he did, but that matters little.

It is assault. I can't tell how "public" this is (the YouTube description says it's in front of a house and I don't see any neighbors).

He was in no physical danger, and cannot claim self-defense. He probably beat her because he's got unresolved anger issues and didn't think anyone else was watching.
