Question:

If a man follows a vegan diet, wouldn't it make sense that he turns feminine (all those estrogen products)?

Physiologically speaking. I mean, it makes sense to me. There is SO much estrogen in soy products! And vegan males will likely drink soy milk, eat tofu, tempeh soy cheese, and other soybean products on a daily basis.

And, if you don't believe me... just think about it for a second. Which continent consumes the most soy products? Eastern Asia, duh! And which country specifically? Japan! The Japanese! Now, I don't mean to be offensive, but Japanese male are quite feminine. They have flawless, smooth feminine skin, they have no facial or body hair, they are rather short, they have a small build (small shoulders) and they also have small... you know. I'm not a fan of Asian takeout... the portions are too small. :-)

So. Won't veganism emasculate a man physiologically (physically) speaking? No offense, no racism meant.

  1. No. Diet does not make you feminine.

Besides, what's wrong with having flawless skin? Would you prefer men to have dry flaky skin?

Oh, and this question is racist.

  2. I'll answer your question with a question. Don't men eat: cows, hens, female pigs and fish? These all have estrogen too. When we eat something the stomach acid digests it. For hormones like estrogen to work they need to be injected.

  3. No, they are many vegan men who are not feminine. Look at vegan bodybuilders. You'll see

  4. I lol'ed at this.

What about rice milk, almond milk, and hemp milk, which most vegetarians/vegans also drink? Anyone with a clear idea of what health really means wouldn't eat soy 24 hours a day. Eating one thing all the time is the problem (meat included). And furthermore, soy estrogen is not like human estrogen.

  5. You do realize that plant estrogens are different thn human/animal estrogens? Plant estrogens are very weak and wont 'emasculate' a vegan man.

Oh, and no racism meant? Yeah; you only called japanese men feminine. Their genes make them like that. I love men with smooth skin and no body hair; :P. (chest hair- *shudder*)

BUT, no one should eat anything in excess. 2-3 servings if soy is fine i reckon.

  6. milk has LOTS of estrogen.

  7. Guess what...Estrogen comes from a lot of other sources...Not just soy.

What an ignorant thing to say about Asians.  You are extremely misinformed and racist.  I think you should spend less time on here and more time reading books or watching the news...

And as for the takeout and small portions, you must eat like a pig because one of those meals is enough for 2 meals for me.

BTW:  My husband is vegan and he is not the least bit feminine.  He is 6' 175 lbs of pure muscle.  He has a gorgeous body and plenty of hair in all the right places.  Our whole family does karate and we are all healthy.  My 2 sons are just regular kids...They just eat healthier.

I love questions like this because they show how little some people really know.  It makes me feel smarter.  Thanks for the burst of self esteme.

  8. My two cents is that a man following a vegan diet may eat zero soy products.  I eat very little, only when out to eat with friends.  If a male vegan decides to eat a lot of soy products, you'll have to ask a nutritionist for that answer.

And I don't think that the Japanese eat all that much soy.  A better question would be, are Japanese women more demure than western women?  (increased estrogen does not play a part here).  I'd say yes.  If yes, wouldn't it be likely that the men would also be more demure than their western counterparts?

    D

  9. There are more hormones, pesticides, and chemicals in dairy products than soy. So NO veganism doesn't make men feminine.

  10. I'm pretty sure it doesn't actually work like that but it's a good theory. Anyway I don't see any problem with men becoming more effeminate. A world with less aggression would be a better world and we all know which s*x is responsible for 99% of wars, murder and attrocities don't we?

  11. just a heads up to the other responses, plant hormones are easily taken up by humans, In one study, prepubescent boys grew b*****s from lavender soap, and that is definitely not injected nor ingested.

Additionally, soy is definitely an estrogen mimicker, if it wasn't why would it be a therapy for post-menopausal women.

Men and women need to be careful about phytoestrons and not go overboard with the soy, our bodies have a set balance of hormones and ingesting soy as well as eating beef throws them off. Soy tends to throw off thyroid function for that reason. Another quick point, mothers who eat beef during pregnancy tend to have sons with lower sperm counts.

*****I don't see any of the other people giving sources when they say soy isn't dangerous. It not a matter of opinion. You can be vegan with out eating soy. its not healthy in large quantities, whether or not it emasculates men.

I don't think soy is responsible for the asian "small build" because their are asians who eat american food that are still small, its genetics

Scroll down and tell me if the man in those photos looks feminine.

FYI - You REALLY sound too stupid to be true. For your sake, I just hope that you are a troll because if this is the real you communicating, I feel really sorry for you.

  13. Soy proteins contain isoflavones that can mimic a weak oestrogen effect. It's not the same as the oestrogen the body makes - it is 1,000 times weaker than the body's oestrogen.

There are other plants that contain oestrogen too.

There is no scientific evidence that soy will cause males to develop b*****s or lose facial hair or body hair. As for losing muscle, go to

These people are vegan, for many of them soy is their main source of protien and a significant part of their diets. Do those men LOOK like they've lost muscle?  Do they look feminine to you?

Your comments about Japanese men are absurd, and yes they are racist; ''they also have small... you know. I'm not a fan of Asian takeout... the portions are too small. :-)''
