If a memeory card from a digital camera was reformatted in error can the pictures lost be retrieved?

I took over 100 pictures when on vacation and hit a reformat button in error.

  1. First, I hope you haven't messed with the card since.

    If you 'delete' chances are the pics are there. Usually the camera is only tagging the memory, allowing it to be written over, the pics are there, just hidden.

    Recovery software might be able to pull it off.

    However, you stated that you reformatted, that might actually clean the card. Not sure on that one. I've recovered from a delete situation a long time ago and got my pic back, never did a reformat though.

    Try it though, you have nothing to lose.


  2. the chances of recovering might be slim, but you can try a program called Recover My Files 3.98. i did rescued a few file from formatted card before.

  3. same thing just happened to me, and i you cant because there not on the card anymore, they dont have any memory of themselves. it sucks =//
