The accident was not reported to the police. The insurance company [for the other driver] will report the accident to the DOT, as the owner of the car driven by the minor [17] had no insurance.

  1. If not for the accident,   driving without insurance should suspend the probationary license.    Too many things here to make the kid look bad,   not reported,  no insurance.

  2. With all that is going against him, I would say for at least 1 full year and not including any and all fines and all damages that he will be responsible for..............................

  3. If the accident had not been the minor's fault, and if the minor had not been in violation of a slew of regulations, then in all probability, nothing would have happened beyond the initial police report on the accident.  But a bunch of extremely stupid, criminally negligent actions have been taken.

An accident should ALWAYS be reported to the police, unless it is on private property with no damage to anyone property other than the person with the accident, or if it is on a publc street with no harm to anyone or to government property.

Suppose you have an accident, you hit a guard rail, it saves you, your car is driveable, no one hurt, just your car.  You should make a police report identifying location of guard rale so it can be inspected to save the next person who hits it.  Otherwise you are responsible for that person's death.

Getting in an accident with someone else, and it not being properly reported.  That is a serious crime.

Driving on the highway without proper insurance.  That is a serious crime.

Expect to get a summons to appear before a judge to explain how come you driving without proper insurance, and not doing your civic duty when in an accident.

Suspended license should be the least of your concerns.

It will be very difficult to get affordable insurance now that you have an automotive criminal record.
