Question:

If a moderator deletes group archived messages can they be retrieved?

I granted moderator status to someone who was playing "catch up" reading past messages...and she deleted them as she read them...arrgghhh. So now we lost all of our 3 thousand plus messages... I see a "record" of them...but I can't click on the message to open and read it again. These are not my mail messages..they are messages on a yahoo group. Any thoughts...I'd really like to get these back... they were about a high school reunion...and someone was going to write a book...***double sigh*** Any help will be greatly appreciated

  1. Just to add some background to the excellent answers provided by blue and mom-2-1.

Yahoo allows Owners to limit moderator powers. Unfortunately, deleting messages is not one of those.

You can read this to see what powers can-and-cannot be limited:

    http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Group...

How we tell Yahoo we don't like it is a whole new topic.

  2. Unfortuanately, no.  Check to see if any members have saved the emailed versions of the messages or daily digests.  You could repost them that way.

  3. this happens to alot of people- and really, the motto should be no clicking less you know what you're doing-

once they are deleted, they are gone. so sorry that happened

  4. I get the digest and save them in my email so I have my own record.  it's easy to do now that yahoo gives us unlimited email storage.

Along these lines, if you turn off the archives and then at some point turn them back on, are they still all there?

  5. No, sorry.
