If a parcel is taken to a post office, that already has a stamp from online postage - does the PO lose out?

If I use the Royal Mail online postal service (UK) to buy stamps, then take the parcels to the post office to have the proof of purchases stamped, and the parcels posted, does the Post Office lose out?

Sometimes the clerk looks a bit pissy!

  1. We do loose out sadly its a shame cos we have to do all the work by taking them in. Its best to use ur local post office, u might save someones job.

  2. I bet they do (loose out), not look pissy.;

    I have tried to reseach this question on the RM website, but I can't get any info on it.

    I think it is time to email Alan.Cook@postoffice.co.uk to ask

  3. Good question. I would like to help my local PO survive. If online postage means they get less turnover, that sucks. Have a star.

  4. even though the royal mail gets the money overall the PO branch misses out on the sale money from the stamps so if the royal mail decide to cut the budget and close POs that dont take much money it leaves them at risk. if youve already got to go to the PO for proof of posting why not do it all in one go and save someones job.
