If a pawn says check to you, does that make you a bad chess player?

where should you move next..i tried to kill the pawn but yahoo chess wouldnt let me :'( maybe its against the rules? also when pawns are in their original position, and a horsie is on a diagonal square to one, can a pawn kill it? i tried this but it didnt work on yahoo either

The reason it didnt let u is probobly because u were moving into check and yes u are rubbish if u r checked by a pawn

I'm not a good chess player, but I think if it wouldn't let you capture the pawn, it's because by moving into the square it was occupying, you would still have been in check.

there are 3 ways to get out of check

1 take the oppent checking you

2 block the line of check

3 run away!

No, I have checkmated many times against good players with a pawn in combination of another piece.

You just need to play more to get better :-)

pawn is a very strong piece

yes pawn can kill it in given situation if horsie is in one of the front diagonal squares

Not at all.  Pawns can be key in winning games.

If you are unable to take the pawn it is protected by another piece and you need to move your king to get out of check.

you were moving into a position where your pawn would've been in check. wow... how did you end up with just your pawn?... goodness gracious...
