My dad asked me a while back about what I wanted him to put in his will, and I had no answer. If he doesn't make a will, what kind of situation will my sister and I be in?

  1. a very long legal battle............it should be divided equally

  2. If a person dies intestate (absent a will), then the statutes of the state in which they live will determine the distribution of assets to heirs.  It can vary somewhat from state to state.

Talk to your sister and decide jointly how you will would your inheritance handled.  Then speak to Dad about putting that into writing in his will.

It will be MUCH easier for everyone if there is a proper will.
