If a person gets an "RC" on a course(repeat course);when he retakes the course where is the new grade posted?

If a person gets an RC(usually due to lower than expected attendance) and retakes the course again;What happens on his grade report;does it replace the old post "RC" in the semester he initially took the course or is it posted in the new semester (at the same time removing the old post)?

Your old grade is on the transcript and new one is on the transcript also. It doesn't repalce it.
