  1. hot= causes others to get "hot", normally wanting to  do the obvious. Does not a personality description.Mainly refers to girls.

cool1=  relatively passive, not one to start confrontation, easy going. personality description. Normally referring to boys.

cool2= "i'm cool". statement saying that one is happy with something or statement of non hostility.

  2. vagaries of the English language....

  3. Hot = s**y as in 'a hot number' etc.

Cool = cool cat - from the jazz age of the 1920s.  A person who is not flustered, not ever.

  4. I think cool mainly refers to someone's personality. Hot refers to their looks.

  5. I interpret your question as asking: Why do we immediately put someone who is goodlooking into the 'cool' category i.e. assuming that you're cool if you're hot.

Well I don't know. Hot people are usually the most awesome of pricks. And if they are actually nice, that's a bigger slap in the face. It's actually weird that people congregate around the good looking people (which effectively makes them 'cool' without having to really prove that they ARE cool, like personality wise) when it just makes THEM look pathetic. It would make sense to stay away from the hot people so atleast despite their ridiculous good looks, we could make fun of them for being loners or something. But I guess the 'average looking' or 'lesser beings' tend to congregate around the hot people because they consider themselves 'hot' as well. And that is NOT cool. Ahhh the webs we weave.

  6. the answer is that hot is based on looks but cool is on personality

  7. Because that person is so hot he/she has to chillax to cool down. Hence we say, cool dude.
